The European Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (EC MTB-O or EOC) — A Regional Championship Event — are set to have the world’s best MTBO athletes face off in Hillerød, Denmark this week. Elite MTBO racers from 23 nations (60 EOC Women, 88 EOC Men, 41 JWOC Women, 68 JWOC Men: Totaling 257 world-class athletes) will participate in events from June 23-27 along side the Junior World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (Junior EC MTB-O or JWOC) — The Second Junior World MTBO Championships since 2008.
These events also includes the battle over the European Youth Cup and European Masters Cup for MTB-Orienteering 2009. The competitions begins on Tuesday with sprint distance competitions and concludes on Saturday with the much anticipated mountain bike orienteering relay competition.
Unfortunately, this years competition will not feature any MTBO athletes from the United States — again. However, MTBO America hopes to change that in 2010. Meanwhile, leading results and news will be published here on MTBO America throughout the week giving our future 2010 US Mountain Bike Orienteering Team a good idea on who their competition will be next year! Coverage will also be featured on the IOF homepage throughout the competitions.
