The BC Bike Race will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in 2009.

The 2009 BC Bike Race will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

This week, two Virginians, Mark Lewis and Jim Mitchell, from the Potomac Velo Club (PVC) out of Fairfax, Virginia, will cross the Canadian boarder to race in an intense 7-day, staged, mountain bike endurance race in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC).

Possibly one of the few mountain bike orienteering (MTBO) formats being used in North America today, the BC Bike Race is an epic route designed and endorsed by super endurance mountain bike racer, Andreas Hestler; 2-Time Canadian Champion and 3-Time National Series Champion.

Australian Athletes Denied EOC Titles

The European Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (EC MTB-O or EOC) — A Regional Championship Event — are set to have the world’s best MTBO athletes face off in Hillerød, Denmark this week. Elite MTBO racers from 23 nations, including two (2) world-class athletes from Australia, Anthony Darr and Alex Randall, will participate in events from June 23-27.

However, There is one interesting side note to this years competition that bears mentioning. According to the EOC Competition Rules, only current EOC Competitors whom represent full or associate member Federations of the IOF, and belong to a country defined by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as belonging to the European continent, are eligible for European titles, medals or diplomas during the EC MTB-O (and Junior EC MTB-O) championships (Section 6. Participation – Rule 6.5 and Section 25. Prizes – Rule 25.5).

The European Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (EC MTB-O or EOC) — A Regional Championship Event — are set to have the world’s best MTBO athletes face off in Hillerød, Denmark this week. Elite MTBO racers from 23 nations (60 EOC Women, 88 EOC Men, 41 JWOC Women, 68 JWOC Men: Totaling 257 world-class athletes) will participate in events from June 23-27 along side the Junior World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (Junior EC MTB-O or JWOC) — The Second Junior World MTBO Championships since 2008.
